Founder & Marketing Strategist
Matt Nelson is the founder of Peachtree Rose Marketing, a San Antonio marketing agency. A former U.S. Army interrogator turned marketer, he helps small and mid-sized businesses get found, get trusted, and grow — through SEO, AI search visibility, podcasting, and content built on how people actually decide.
Matt’s first career was reading people. He served as a human intelligence (HUMINT) interrogator with the United States Army, and graduated from the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center as a Mandarin Chinese linguist. His work centered on understanding what people meant, what they hid, and what moved them to act.
His path into marketing started overseas. While stationed in the Republic of Korea, he helped a friend translate foreign-language documents to legalize a marriage. That favor turned into his first online business — a web-based translation agency — and it’s where his passion for marketing began.
He learned digital marketing by doing it, building the agency hands-on while finishing a Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media and Web Technology. One skill led to the next: translation to web design, web design to SEO.
In 2022, he founded Peachtree Rose Marketing — a way to focus marketing resources on his own business pursuits, and to help other small and mid-sized businesses grow through deliberate means. His intelligence career kept progressing alongside it; he later served as an intelligence specialist and behavioral threat assessor, a U.S. Air Force civilian with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations’ Behavioral Threat Assessment Cell. In 2025, he left federal service for good to run Peachtree Rose Marketing full time.
Outside of work, Matt is a husband and father. On the weekends, you’ll usually find him spending time with family, traveling, and exploring Texas.
Somewhere along the way, it clicked: marketing is the same work he did in uniform. Both come down to one question — what makes a person act?
In intelligence work, Matt learned to read the real drivers under what people say: motivation, trust, and fear. Those same drivers decide whether someone buys, books, or scrolls past. Most marketing only guesses at them.
That’s his edge as a strategist. Before he writes a headline or builds an SEO plan, he maps the behavior first. Who is this person? What are they really trying to solve? What would make them trust a stranger enough to act? Answer those, and the tactics fall into place.
“Understand why people trust, buy, and act — and you can build a message that actually lands.”
Matt works in podcasting from every seat at the table — it isn’t a side service for him, but one of the clearest ways he’s found to build real authority for a brand.
He runs multi-camera video podcast production out of the Peachtree Rose Marketing studio in San Antonio for a roster of local business and professional shows.
He cohosts the Growth Quarter Mastermind podcast and hosts other Peachtree Rose Marketing shows like While Supplies Last, The Marketing Podcast.
He joins other podcasts to talk marketing, human behavior, and building business systems that scale.

“You have to understand human behavior before you reach for a marketing strategy. When you know your ideal customer, you know their pain points, the outcome they want most, and what builds trust at scale. That’s what informs every piece of your branding and outward messaging. It’s why you put people first, and platforms second.”
